The Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve Development Authority inaugurated its pavilion at the Katara International Hunting and Falconry Exhibition “Shahel” in its eighth edition in Qatar, and highlighted the “Al-Shamal Sustainable Hunting Reserve”, the first designated reserve for sustainable hunting in the Kingdom with an area of 2,000 square kilometers, and showcases for visitors, it has specific tourism and environmental programs for land travel lovers.
The reserve's pavilion offers visitors interactive presentations through display screens about the Northern Reserve and its pioneering programs, which organize hunting activities in a manner that balances environmental protection and wildlife sustainability, and includes luxurious eco-camps and lodges and modern shooting ranges. A unique tourist destination for hunting and relaxation enthusiasts, it offers a wide range of accommodation options to suit the needs of all visitors, including luxury camps equipped with specialized environmental guides.
Activities available at the reserve include archery using firearms, falconry and hunting dogs, while the highest safety standards are enforced to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors.
Visitors to the exhibit learn about the reserve's efforts to protect rare and endangered species through captive breeding centers and about the game it contains, including deer and bustards available for hunting, which are enhanced through well-studied scientific programs.
In addition to the environmental benefits, the North Reserve contributes to strengthening the local economy and providing job opportunities for community members, as more than 56 people were employed during the last season in various fields including environmental guidance, security and medical services.
The reserve also offers an integrated tourism experience, which includes Al-Haski Caravan, Eco-Camp, Umm al-Asafir Faydah, King Abdulaziz Palace, Lena Heritage Palace, Darb Zubaida Winter Festival and Birkat al-Ashar.
It is noteworthy that the North Reserve is the first sustainable hunting reserve in the Kingdom, and through its pioneering programs, it works to legalize hunting activities to protect rare species and endangered wildlife, increase the number of game and release them into their natural environment, and preserve environmental balance and the unique biodiversity and picturesque nature of the region. The North Sustainable Hunting Reserve is located within the scope of the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve, specifically on the Lina-Turba Hail road, spanning an area of 91,500 square kilometers. Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve is the second largest royal reserve in terms of area and is characterized by natural and environmental diversity, it is biologically unique, as it contains more than 162 species of animals and more than 179 species of plants, including 113 seasonal plants and 66 perennial plants.
