British shares fell and sterling rose in late trading on Tuesday

The index – which includes the 100 largest companies on the London Stock Exchange – declined 0.52%, equivalent to 43.38 points, to 8249.28 points.

In the currency market, the pound was trading at US$1.3068 at the close of the London market, up 0.01%. It rose against the European currency to 1.2003 euros, a rise of 0.24%.
