Transport Authority: 4 regulatory requirements for operating foreign trucks within the state

The General Authority for Transport stressed the need for mechanisms to regulate foreign truck operations and the importance of foreign trucks heading to the State adhering to transportation rules and requirements in the State.

The Authority, in cooperation with the relevant authorities, has set 4 regulatory requirements for the operation of foreign trucks in the Kingdom, the most important of which is the issuance of electronic transport documents from the logistics platform byn.logisti.sa. To limit the transportation of goods only from the city of arrival (city/station) or cities to the return route, and stations located on the route of the return route, and carriers do not enter into contracts with foreign trucks for transportation between cities in the Kingdom. Transport rules and requirements applicable to national carriers, such as technical communication with the relevant authorities, and the obligation of foreign carriers and violating foreign trucks to pay the violation before entering or exiting the Kingdom's land ports.

The authority indicated that the mechanism for regulating foreign truck operations contributes to achieving fair competition, creating an investment climate and reducing irregular practices, in addition to increasing the safety level of transport services, preserving public roads and infrastructure and achieving environmental goals and stability in the logistics sector.
