Dr. Khaled Al-Nimr, consultant and professor of cardiology and arterial catheterisation, warned about the dangers of cholesterol for young people.
Al-Nimr said in an intervention on Al Arabiya FM that cholesterol can cause major problems for young people, noting that high cholesterol is a hereditary disease as it is linked to family history.
The consultant further added that eating in restaurants and eating in general accounts for 10 to 15% of the causes of high blood cholesterol, noting the importance of getting it checked as recent studies have proven that starting treatment early can prevent the occurrence of blood clots.
He said that despite the importance of medical check-up and analysis, exercise and diet in terms of treatment procedures, many youngsters delay treatment of their cholesterol.
