The activities of the first date festival in the city of Sakaka took place yesterday, organized by the branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in the Al-Jouf region, represented by the Sakaka city office, with the participation of 7 government agencies and 30 farmers and producer families.
During the 5 days, the activities saw the presence of around 60,000 visitors from Al-Jouf and various regions of the Kingdom and the Gulf countries, who visited the festival corridors, which included 30 pavilions and shops selling agricultural products, in addition to the corners of the participating parties.
The festival included a variety of activities, events with children, introductory corners about palm trees and types of date palms, others for producer families, awareness and educational programs and entertainment segments.
Festival participants reported that the Festival's sales, in its first edition, exceeded expectations due to increased demand and the density of visitors.
It is noteworthy that the festival displayed about 60 types of dates and palms, and aimed to support farmers in the region, introduce the palm trees of the Al-Jouf region, “Al-Nabaiyat”, and open new marketing channels for the products of the participating farmers.
