Medical teams at Jazan Health Complex were deployed to save the life of a newborn baby of Sudanese nationality suffering from embolism.
Medical team leader, pediatric cardiologist and cardiac catheterization consultant, Dr Basil Haddad, said the baby was born at Samata General Hospital and was suffering from lack of oxygen.
He said the medical team immediately performed an urgent cardiac imaging, which revealed engorgement in the infant's major arteries and the urgent need for immediate cardiac catheterization.
He said the medical team transferred the infant to Jazan General Hospital to operate, and a cardiac catheterization was performed and an atrial septum opening operation was performed, which was crowned with success, praise God, and Oxygen levels are back to normal, praise God.
He said that after the operation was conducted and the condition of the baby was stabilised, the baby's condition was immediately referred to the advanced cardiac centers in key areas of the state and the case was accepted and the baby was taken to the cardiac surgery center by air medical evacuation. Was transferred to Medina in less than 24 hours.
He said the medical team includes Dr Mohammed Hakmi, neonatal intensive care consultant, Dr Majid Al Ibrahim, neonatal intensive care consultant, Dr Anit, neonatal care specialist and the nursing and respiratory therapy team at Jazan General Hospital.
