Today, Tuesday, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Qassim University, aimed at intensifying cooperation in the field of education by training and developing national cadres, raising awareness in the fields of data and artificial intelligence and the technologies that enable them, and investigating opportunities to organize career development programs for university graduates and researchers looking for work in this field.

This came during the third edition of the World Summit on Artificial Intelligence, currently held in Riyadh, where “Sadaya” was represented in the signing of the memorandum by His Excellency Dr. Issam bin Abdullah Al-Waqith, Director of the National Information Center, while the President of the University, Professor Dr. Muhammad bin Fahad Al-Sharekh, signed on behalf of the university.

The objective of the Memorandum is to enhance collaboration between faculty members, researchers and graduate students of SDAIA and the University to present and publish studies and cognitive research related to data and artificial intelligence and to provide them with the opportunity to participate in conferences, meetings and events, and to enable them to provide training courses and scientific consultation to SDAIA in accordance with regulatory rules, in addition to… exploring ways of collaboration with the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at the University in the field of research and innovation and to enhance Kingdom’s progress in the field of data and artificial intelligence.

The purpose of the memorandum is to discuss ways of cooperation in organizing hackathons and challenges in the field of data and artificial intelligence in the Qassim region, and to support and develop the non-profit sector in the areas provided by the “Ihsan” platform through consultations and research and development capabilities according to the available capabilities and in a way that does not affect the educational process, in addition to cooperate in the establishment of an artificial intelligence laboratory affiliated with the “Sadya” Academy at the university headquarters in order to qualify students and experts in the field in the Qassim region.

This comes in light of Sadaya's interest in raising the level of national capacities in government agencies with data technologies and artificial intelligence, as it has, since its establishment in 2019, taken the lead in working to achieve its ambitious strategy in building the national capacities of experts and specialists as a national reference in this field within the framework of Vision Kingdom 2030.

Sadaya's efforts also come through training programs and camps to build and develop the capacities of experts in the field of data and artificial intelligence to bridge the gap in these areas at the national level, in addition to increasing the contribution of national cadres in bringing the Kingdom into the ranks of leading countries in data-based economies and artificial intelligence.
