Kingdom reviews aquaculture opportunities during World Fisheries Forum

The Kingdom participated in the World Fisheries Forum and Seafood Exhibition 2024 in the Russian Federation during the period from September 17 to 19, 2024, in the presence of several government agencies and the private sector.

Dr. Ali bin Muhammad Al-Shekhi, Assistant Undersecretary for Livestock and Fisheries at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, pointed out that the Kingdom’s participation was represented by the National Program for the Development of the Livestock and Fisheries Sector, the Saudi Export Development Authority, the Agricultural Development Fund, and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, indicating that the Kingdom’s participation aims to support private sector companies in marketing fish products in priority global markets and to open new markets, such as the Russian market, which is an opportunity to distribute fish products farmed in the Kingdom to more than five countries allied to the Russian Federation.

He said the National Program for the Development of the Livestock and Fisheries Sector focuses on promoting investment opportunities, presenting the state's efforts to support and develop the aquaculture industry and the seafood and products industry, and meeting with Russian major investors and relevant government agencies on behalf of enhancing investment cooperation and business exchanges between the two countries.

He pointed out that the event, held on the sidelines of the exhibition, included a seminar to promote investment opportunities in the aquaculture sector in the Kingdom, with the participation of a number of government agencies such as: the Ministry of Investments, the Saudi Export Development Authority, and the Agricultural Development Fund, and in the presence of a number of Russian companies, Russian businessmen and government officials in Russia, and a number of leading Saudi companies in the field of aquaculture.

The head of the Kingdom’s delegation, Dr. Ali bin Muhammad Al-Shekhi, also attended the conference held on the sidelines of the exhibition, during which he reviewed the Kingdom’s efforts in developing the aquaculture industry, the capabilities offered by the Kingdom to foreign investors, and the importance of the industry in achieving the goals of food security and sustainable development.

It is worth mentioning that the World Fisheries Forum and Seafood Exhibition in Russia is the main event that connects thousands of companies from around the world in the fields of fisheries, aquaculture, logistics and packaging. It is also an important platform for companies to enter the global market, and it involves more than (350) exhibitors from (17) countries, and is visited by about (20) thousand visitors from more than (75) countries around the world.
