Bandar Al-Khorayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, affirmed that modern technology contributes significantly to improving the efficiency of mines and enables remote control of what is in the ground.
This took place during his participation in the third edition of the World Summit on Artificial Intelligence, held in Riyadh.
Al-Khareef said the technology helps improve the safety and efficiency of mining operations and extracting materials from different sources, pointing to Chile's experience where mines up to 2,000 kilometres away were controlled remotely.
He stressed that these developments open new horizons for the mining sector and provide opportunities for young people to join it.
The Minister highlighted the importance of geological surveys and data analysis, as these technologies provide accurate information about the contents of the Earth's interior, which contributes to accelerating exploration processes and improving the efficiency of resource extraction.
