The Gas Lubricants Environment friendly Engine Know-how (FLEET) Consortium, led by KAUST and the Oil Sustainability Program (OSP), celebrated their achievements for the 12 months 2022/23 at King Abdullah College of Science and Know-how’s campus, and welcomed two key trade gamers as new companions to its fold on Tuesday.

The FLEET Consortium’s 2022 companions Aramco, Bahri, Pacific Green Technologies, SAPTCO, and Toyota joined KAUST and the Oil Sustainability Program (OSP) to have fun the 12 months’s achievements which embody pioneering the practicality of hydrogen gasoline cell electrical buses as an environment friendly path in direction of a cleaner public transportation system in Saudi Arabia through these zero-emission automobiles.

In addition to efficiently integrating renewable e-fuels with conventional fossil fuels which is able to lower down the carbon footprint of on a regular basis journeys. The distinctive Consortium bridges the hole between trade leaders, educational consultants, and authorities entities to allow a cleaner mobility sector.

OSP Senior Engineer Zainab Nasif burdened that OSP goals, with its FLEET companions, to diversify the mobility sector by advancing applied sciences and exploring avenues to enhance fuels in transportation by encouraging the experimentation of gasoline mix [NZA1] [AAW2]. She emphasised that OSP works to allow bridging the hole between analysis and end-users to speed up its improvement and utility.

FLEET co-founders Profs. Mani Sarathy and Aamir Farooq from KAUST’s Clear Combustion Analysis Heart (CCRC) expressed their pleasure on the profitable completion of all six tasks within the first cycle. Prof. Sarathy mentioned, “From evaluating the feasibility of methanol-to-gasoline manufacturing and utilization in Europe, to experimenting with gasoline blends and operating a case examine in Saudi Arabia utilizing hydrogen-fueled buses, it has been a busy 12 months for us.”

Ferrari, a model synonymous with automotive excellence, and Luberef, a frontrunner in lubricant refining, are the most recent members to hitch FLEET’s mission within the 12 months 2023/24. Their collaboration will additional propel our Consortium’s targets of redefining the way forward for sustainable transportation.

Ernesto Lasalandra, Ferrari Chief Analysis and Improvement Officer mentioned, “We welcome the chance to hitch FLEET Consortium, with its concentrate on enhancing gasoline and engine design to enhance the environmental and financial competitiveness of its members. On Ferrari’s path to carbon neutrality by 2030, we worth modern frameworks equivalent to this to share competencies and experiences. Being a FLEET member facilitates our goal to discover technologically impartial options associated to fuels and lubricants”.

Waleed Murad, director gross sales and advertising, “Luberef is privileged to be part of the FLEET consortium, we really feel happy with our dedication in direction of analysis and improvement and in addition within the improvement of human capital and new applied sciences supporting KSA V 2030.”

Established in collaboration between OSP and KAUST, FLEET is a Consortium that enhances gasoline and engine design. FLEET’s collective mission is to enhance the financial and environmental competitiveness of the transportation sector by merging the strengths of academia, authorities, and manufacturing; FLEET is driving a greener future for mobility worldwide. — SG
