The Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones signed a contract with Nestlé to allocate industrial land with an area of 117,000 square meters in the third industrial city in Jeddah. With the aim of setting up the first food factory in the Kingdom, it is targeted to open in 2025, with an investment of 270 million riyals in its first phase, which will increase local production.
The signing ceremony was sponsored and attended by the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, the Chairman of the Council of the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones “Modan”, Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, the CEO of Modan, Engineer Majid bin Rafid Al-Arqoubi, and the company's CEO, Robert Al-Helou.
In its first phase, the project aims to produce baby food and launch an automated production line with the highest modern technologies for packaging and packing materials by qualified national cadres in the food industry. In its first phase, the project will create hundreds of direct and indirect jobs, and the targeted production capacity in the first phase will be 15 thousand tons annually.
In line with the national strategy for the industry, “Modan” is working to strengthen the food industries through the food cluster in the second and third industrial cities in Jeddah, as the goal of the food cluster is to strengthen the supply chain and develop exports by providing an integrated and supportive environment, which has a positive impact on the growth and development of the food industry sector in the region.
