The Saudi Artificial Intelligence team won the silver medal at the International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (IAIO2024), held in Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from September 8 to 12, attended by 90 male and female students representing 25 countries.
Jeddah Education student Abdul-Ilah Muhammad Al-Saqqaf won the silver medal as a result of the Saudi team's extensive preparation and training at the hands of local and international experts by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Talent and Creativity “Mahiba”, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, through the Maviba program for the International Olympiad.
Each country participated in the Olympiad with a team of 4 students who competed individually for two days, the first day of which was dedicated to scientific questions, and on the second day the students solved scientific problems using artificial intelligence techniques through a platform specially designed for this purpose.
The Olympics were organized for the first time in the world by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) in collaboration with the International Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Ethics (ICAIRE) and the International Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence in Slovenia under the auspices of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
The Olympiad contributes to strengthening friendly international relations between technology and software experts and artificial intelligence teachers in different countries, attracting the attention of young people to these modern technologies, and encouraging other countries to hold similar competitions in the future.
